Sounds interesting but I somewhat doubt that's true.
Torrents are mostly used for the latest releases and Netfilx doesn't air latest releases

That's true ........ but recently it did have The Bacherlorette (movie) on at the same time as On Demand on Foxtel ....... (but i didn't watch it)

So much content on Netflix ...... & Hulu ....... it's amazing

& in the article in the OP's post it says about 3D & 4K streaming ....in the future

What else is Netflix working on? 3D won't roll out internationally for a while yet, as "the connection isn't good enough" according to Sarandos. And 4K? "It'll be super interesting to see how it evolves, it's super early and the pricing is obviously in the very early curve," he said. "If it evolves as a streaming only format it'll be very interesting."

Netflix's chief product officer Neil Hunt previously said that 4K streaming would be available through the service in a year or two.

I have also noticed that Vudu & Amazon sometimes get a new release movie before Foxtel On demand or the DVD shops in Australia .....

I never download CAMS nor do most of my friends they prefer to wait for dvd release but true Netflix takes a while to get latest episodes while the likes of itunes and sony and vudu are milking them for every dollar their worth.
If Hulu went global that would have an impact. Nice if Netflix got episodes same time as Hulu but can't see that happening.

Vudu have some indie movies during or before their cinema release.
