Incidentally I have a 15/1mbps ADSL2+ connection
OK, this is the deal.
I have Foxtel HD - so $82 per month for HD channels + sport whatever. I only have Fox for sport. I have only an interest in Socceroos, BBL and AFL (main interest).
With the recent announcement of BBL games being shown live on FTA now and Socceroos WCQ on SBS 30mins delayed, all that is left is AFL and I can't justify the $$$ for just that.
So what are my options and your experiences?
I have looked at Foxtel via Xbox 360, but this has games blackouts- I don't want that. As you can see the team I support plays a lot of twilight games on Fox and they have a good chance of being blacked out.
AFL via the official app - $90 per season. Might be good, but quality issues.. I have a 42" TV and Airplay to that from here might get annoying from my iPhone. Plus I would need to use 3G on my phone for unmetered unless I use home Wifi. How does this go on multiple devices? Like if I have an iPhone and an Android phone?
via VPN? What VPN's have you used? This looks the best option but I am not sure about quality or payment/ etc how to do it? Don't they check your credit card address if you use a US address etc? can you use Paypal?
Input much appreciated.

The official app isn't a realistic option if you want to be able to see who the players are and where the ball is.
I've used it with CyberGhost VPN, I'm not sure about the video specs but the quality is quite good.
The thing with the credit card is that most of their customers are going to Australians who live overseas...for example you're buying your subscription in Australia before you head over to London for a year. So there's no issue using your own credit card and address etc.
Ok no worries so there is no issue buying the sub, just watching it which can be fixed via VPN? What is the quality like and any ads etc?
I have looked an seen that the "blackouts" on Xbox 360 are merely Live games shown on 7 anyway.
What is the quality like of Foxtel over Xbox 360? I have worked out it would be $30 cheaper for me per month to go this way.

JUst a question, wouldn't foxtel over the 360 be the same as foxtel any other way.
Most of the games are live now anyway.
Gee I'd hate to be a North Melbourne supporter, you have lost so many this year by a kick.
Yes, stop reminding us haha.....
The difference is it is cheaper. But i have heard that it is pretty poor quality and I'm not sure how much data would be used over the month.

I watch the afltv on a large screen monitor via vpn in Toronto, i am presently living in Beverley Hills (i wish), cost $120 per annum, vpn is boxpn (suggested on another site as the best), i think some one here suggested Toronto due to the number of servers approx $6 per month, kill it when the season is completed. I get 720 resolution when i open my browser after connecting to the vpn, 320 if before (some times it reverts back to 320 if i click a wrong button, then i have to go out and back in again to get 720) . I have Netflix, Hulu free and a life membership of Play0n and do not miss Fuxtel at all
This is not answering your question, but i think if i can watch it ok on a 24" monitor at 720 then if you can stream to your tv you should have a REASONABLE picture, yes you get all games plus replays which i do watch as well, especially when the cats beat the kangas
There is a fine line between "Hobby" and "Madness"
As your username suggests, it has been allover many times in our close games. Anyway no worries - that is interesting. It will be also interesting what happens when Foxtel Play comes out and if that will include sport, HD streaming etc. I think for Foxtel it is the only way to go. If they cut out the essentials pack and just charged $20 a month for FULL sport then they would get heaps of subscribers.

I think the Crows one was worse.
