Default Touch Nav Firmware Upgrade Method

    Hi guys & gals.

Total NOOB to this forum so don't slam me too hard!

I was hoping that someone could help me with a question I have regarding the Touch Nav keypads.

I have a hills R128 with three Touch Nav keypads (house is armed at night) & recently I had to replace one keypad due to an issue where it would constantly "re-boot". Upon using the new keypad, i noticed that the smoke reset function had been added to the menu rather than having to go searching for the damned thing when the wifey sets off the smoke detectors burning the toast (a regular occurrence!).

I checked the firmware revision in the new keypad & it's a later version than my other two keypads.

My question is this: is there any way I can update the firmware in the older keypads to match the new one & if so, how do I do it?

Thanks in advance, guys & gals.

Talk to your security company and they will change over your touch NAV because their was a firmware issue with them.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Can you be more specific about the issue as I'd rather go into that conversation "pre-armed" with the details. Did hills release a recall or official statement about it?

The faulty firmware did exactly what your 1st keypad did, constantly rebooting / white screen / sdcard missing / logo.jpg missing / etc. Due to unexpected number of faults (around 10%) Direct Alarm Supplies (DAS) will replace your keypad if it is the early firmware version. For us as a DAS customer we were experiencing about a 75% + failure rate which only popped its head up after units being installed for some months before falling over.

Yep, certainly has left a bad impression of the keypads. We are now installing very limited numbers of the TouchNAV until WE are 100% satisfied that they are robust for the job.

Well, i'll keep you all posted about the new keypad with the new firmware. I'm definitely going to get the other two replaced before I have any issues.

Oh, & thank you so much for your help, bet2win. Your advice & professionalism is greatly appreciated.

Sorry for not being clear in my last post requesting details.

What I meant was could you give me details about where to obtain the required dongle & software? Is there a specific dongle or a generic substitute?

Sorry about the late replies, btw, my work schedule is really busy at the moment. Thanks for your help.

I have aleady considered that, but since this one failed after removing it, i didnt want to risk breaking another panel.

Surely one can get the files from somewhere on the web, i really dislike products that dont offer any support, other than having to purchase more products. If i call someone out, they will simply end up replacing for simplicity.
