Default Fisher & Paykel Mw512 AU circuit board parts.

Hi, I've got some pics here of the mainboard for my washing machine. It had a little problem and blew a fuse.
It looks like the two smd caps near C122 are toast. From what I can see it looks like one of them has the number 5740 or 5240 on them, Has anyone got a circuit diagram for these or do they know what they are or even what I can replace them with?
Machine is a MW512 AU top load washing machine PCB 420767 A
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Cheers

From memory, similar questions regarding F and P washers have been asked in the forum before.

Jordan's Manuals might have some documentation.

    Hi Acer,

I'm pretty sure I have a couple of faulty boards I could steal those smd's off if interested.
Or at least measure their values.

Will check later and get back to you.

I don't think you'd be able to find any diagrams of these controllers anywhere - Have tried myself a few times, but of course it's well guarded information from F&P's side.

    Hi again,
I've checked the board I have and the two components are both resistors marked R240.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Steen,
I've done some digging and yes as you say they are resistors. Seems this may stem from a motor problem so I will need to investigate this first before I repair the board and refit it. It looks to me that these have been replaced before.

    Hi,
yes, you should definitely check the pump motor first - very common to get shorted windings there. You should measure around 33ohms over the two terminals.
The smart drive motor is not very likely to be the culprit, but you never know. Resistance should be 32ohm phase to phase.
Be sure not to test the RPS with a voltmeter as that can damage it.

There's a risk that there is more damage to the controller after a blown fuse unfortunately, but I have replaced fuses (both the 1.6A and 4A) several times and except for one with good results. Every time has been due to burnt out pump motors from memory.

The one that didn't work is the one I could steal the resistors from if you need them.

I can send you the service manual if you need it - not hard to find online anyway. Search google for F&P 517769 or 517735.

    Cheers

Well I solved my problem.I tossed out the machine I've had 2 of these machines and to be honest I think they are junk. I picked up an older Hoover one for free from a friend that was moving and needed a smaller machine .It's got the old school dial timer assembly and it works a teat. Computerized washing machines??? Too much tech for such a simple job, I've gone back to basics.
    Cheers for all the help.

    I feel your frustrations Acer.
I too went through 4 weeks+ of chasing a fault in my F&P WM.
Bought a new main board, spent another week... Then tossed it in the workshop no repaired and bought a new WM.

    Hi guys,
sorry to hear you have given up on the machines. I have repaired quite a few over the last couple of years, and yes they can be frustrating if the electronics play up, but I have not had any that couldn't be fixed. If you get in the same situation again somehow I might be able to help with better priced controllers. When they are working I think they are great machines apart from the high water consumption compared to front loaders. They are also the easiest to deal with in terms of taking apart for internal cleaning! I have done a few Samsung top loaders too and they are a real pain compared with F&P's and have heaps more components to go wrong.
Good luck with the machines you've got ;-)

Hi mate, Thank You for your helpful posts.
I have one of these F&P and it has been a great unit.
My unit is feed from a UPS because of the power problem we have in my location so hoping it will see me to old age.
Well a few years at least.
