    Default Internet Radio

Not sure if this is in the right place or not ?.....please move if incorrect

"most" of the worlds radio stations are now available online ...... (they don't seem to worry about the limits of "broadcast areas" like terrestrial FTA TV seem to do... thank goodness)

Usually available on your computer by going to The Raidio stations Website & click on the "Listen Now Streaming button"

Tunein & other Internet Radio programs can access many thousands of the worlds FTA Radio stations (that are also broadcasting on AM or FM or DAB)

Roku & WDTV Live Media Streaming Player & others make these Radio Stations available on your TV .......

but ...... not everyone wants to listen to their Radio on the TV or computer

I recently purchased a "Sangean WFR-28D" Internet "Wifi" /FM/ DAB portable radio ...... (but I am only interested in the Internet radio side of it),

& I would like to report that I am very happy with it, it has a quality sound, (& the AM Radio sounds a lot better than on the AM band)

It has 5 Radio Presets, Clock Radio Alarm, & sleep functions, etc... many menu functions etc ....

& works from Batteries or AC plug pack .....

The worlds best radio Stations sound like they are your local Radio Station

I am really happy with it so far ...... but may not suit other peoples needs ? ....... & it is expensive @ about $250 (but I redeemed from a credit card rewards program)

I did this using the Bauhn tablet to 'Scan' the various Police bands via an App and apart from having hells own job of deciphering the jargon and accents, it worked all right.
Like you I have had a look through the 'commercial' stations available on the computer but to me it is a waste tying up the computer to do it but doing that way is certainly an interesting option.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

    Thanks for the review, OSIRUS.

I listen to a lot of internet radio.

One of these might fit the bill for me too.

There's also some car radios with internet ability too.

It's interesting that whilst some countries restrict access, based on your location IP, most don't and particularly in Australia where licensing bodies are anal about 'out-of-area' listening/viewing it seems rather hypocritical to permit radio stations to broadcast 'anywhere' whereas (commercial) TV stations can't... eg: VAST (travellers excluded).

Tune-in is indeed a great streaming radio service and also in the XBMC plugins and great to listen to radio from home.

Ditto tune-in. Working nights and being a cricket tragic I run it on my phone in the car and listen to the one day games overnight. When they aren't rained out

two things I would like to mention:

    1. must be near a Wifi Internet connection (hot spot etc..) for Internet radio to work

    2. Clock Radio Alarm works fine when connected to the AC plug pack, but not working when on Batteries ATM, (maybe I need to configure it .....)

I use Pandora mostly, and it's great I just wish they didn't have so many adds. I don't feel like paying $3.99 a month, not that it's not a good deal, I just have too many subscriptions as it is.

Dload XBMC for free for whatever device you have
Then install "fusion" from xbmchub and install the xbmchub repo
Dload and install Navi-X and use tune-in for free

    Agreed with above,

I use TuneIn Pro on every portable device, use the portable device as a source, plug into a Dock with speakers, Stereo Dock, Car etc.
    Simple, Clean, Fast and uncluttered.
I like the record feature too, use it often.

Otek iptv510. $70 on eBay. The device is pretty basic, but with the custom ListenLive fw loaded on, it gives a whole world of possibilities on the device. TuneIn, shoutcast, Pandora, plus a pretty hefty database of their own (community run). Plus you can find and load new URLs yourself either as a private favourite, or submit it to the community list.
Good as a small standalone radio, or can be output to a bigger amp etc.
