    Default NZ - xCruiser XDSR385HD - Help

    Hi all

I am a real newbie to satellite TV. I used to have MySky but got sick of paying over $100 a month when I found I was watching a lot of FTA stuff. I am trying to learn about my STR but the web sites seem to confuse me more than assist. I have upgraded the f/w to the latest - 2.11.57 in an effort to see the TV Portal + and while I can see I have that version on the STR, it doesn't display the menus like the pictures and I don't see Portal +. I am also wondering whether I need to download additional plugins. The techo from Freeviewtvshop says stay away from f/w upgrades and plugins but I am intrigued by what I see.

Can someone explain it to me gently please.

    Thanks
    Simon

    Hi Simon,

Welcome to the forum and you have come to the right place. There are sometimes reasons to update firmware because there are many new features that have been implemented in recent times but it's not always necessary to update.
It's very easy to update the Xcruise 385 via your network connection as you have found out!

Ok you need to change an option so that the Menu's are displayed as Icons. Press Menu on the remote and head into the Configuration/Display setting menu. Change the Default Menu Type from Main Menu to Icon Menu. Exit out and next time you press the Menu button on the remote you will see icons display including the TV+ icons etc.

    Thanks Leroy. That works perfectly.

Boy, what a newbie mistake that was.

    Thanks again.
