    Default Netflix on dreambox

Hi, it seems there is no likleyhood of the issue with the 3rd party boxes aka dreambox being able to be paired with foxtel or optus NDS cards i have 2 dreamboxes here with no use at all.

In my opinion it is likely because the quality of programming and the fact that there seem to be more adds on foxtel than there is on FTA that no real effort into overcoming the protocols that have been implemented from foxtel. sad there service is not even worth hacking. i have a paid service i am even considering canceling it compleatly due to the lack of quality new content.

is it possable to set them up somehow with a Netflix streaming app of some sort so it can be used to recieve IPTV from Netflix so it may be viewed on the TV. i have a dns service so that should not be a problem and i believe the ip configuration of the dreambox can be manually configured so it should not be a problem from that aspect?

    Regards

Has anyone tried this and is it even possible?

    Regards

    Barry

I don't see why it can't be done with a Dreambox, though I'm not aware of any Netflix client for them. You would therefore need a media server running on another PC. Playon is good, though there are many others with various degrees of functionality (eg; plex, mediatomb, etc). You then need a upnp/dlna client for the dreambox. I haven't tried this, but djmount features in this post:

You should then be able to access Netflix and other sources via UPNP.

    Good luck.

For what its worth financially, its far easier to go and buy a Roku or similar for around $100 and sell the Dreams.

any XBMC device will do it - we use the Pi and (the MX has its own netflix app) and works 100% on most things for free and in HD .. 1channel, icefilms and another 1050 plugins to boot ..
It is a hobby so mileage varies
