I don't know how many of you read one of the articles floating around about the Microsofts SmartGlass app. For those of you that don't know Xbox SmartGlass isn't anything new, it does however turn your mobile phone or tablet into a second screen that interacts with your Xbox 360. Xbox SmartGlass allows for your devices and TV to talk to each other to enhance your favourite TV shows, movies, music, sports and games.

Microsoft has revealed that its SmartGlass app has been downloaded more than 17 million times. The app was released in October 2012 following its launch at E3 2012. One change that she discussed was that the Xbox One version will not auto-launch companion content for what is currently on the user’s main screen. Xbox One will support up to 16 SmartGlass connections to each console. It will also be capable of reading local hardware inputs in touch devices, such as accelerometers and touch. While developers will be able to stream game content to SmartGlass devices, they will not be able to do so for the intention of remote play.

With the next generation Xbox One, they have introduced new uses for the SmartGlass, which now has much more control over your console. You can start single player games from a tablet, or view leaderboards and achievements. Things are certainly looking up for the future!
