Hate the laborious task of typing in those 25 digit codes on Xbox 360? Hate no more, because on Xbox One you'll be able to scan a QR code using the new Kinect instead as Microsoft has revealed that Kinect will be able to read QR codes.

Corporate vice president of Xbox Marc Whitten confirmed via Twitter that the Xbox One accessory will able to read the codes, negating the need to enter 15-digit codes that come with some games.

Whether QR codes will be made widely available in place of download codes on Xbox One is unknown, but the possibility has existed for some time, as Kinectimals even used QR codes on the current iteration of Kinect.

Since the new Kinect comes packed in with each Xbox One, all players have the option to use it to scan in codes rather than type them in manually. In theory, all you’d need to do is hold a QR code in front of Kinect to start a download.

Xbox 25 digit codes are typically used for Xbox Live Gold subscriptions, Xbox Live Arcade games on retail cards, downloadable content and Microsoft Points, although Microsoft Points will soon be no more and will be replaced with real money.
