Do you know anyone who works for a school or TAFE that teaches graphic design / pre-press skills? I remember setting up a computer lab for a local TAFE campus some years ago. They had a couple of Nikon slide scanners - very nice gear and available for students and staff to use.

While the TAFE campus didn't have it, there was an optional automatic slide feeder for the scanners. With the automatic feeder, a user could just load it up with slides and let it go: the end result was a directory full of image files. On the other hand, for slides that I cared about, I think I'd be checking brightness/contrast etc for each slide scanned.

I know exactly what you mean.

My last wife gave me 1000's of slides from our past which I am slowly converting. (She was a photographic technician in a past life, and luckily for me always had a camera around to catch the family as it grew.)

I purchased an Epson V350 to do this, and boy, it is as slow as a wet week!

Yeah....but if you got too cold, you could always go for a nice long walk in the park to warm up
