Do I need a ADSL 2+ central filter?

Hi members,

Ever since we connected from adsl to adsl 2+ a couple of years ago, there is a persistent interference type sound on our telephone line when listening through our cordless phones. When I turn the modem router (Netgear D6300) off, there is no noise when listening on the cordless phone.
All of our 4 telephone points have telstra c10 adsl 2+ filters.

It is a highly annoying problem that needs to be fixed.

Do I need a central filter?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

i would start by replacing the filter on the cordless phone connection first

In-line filters are only designed to filter the data noise on the line from the handset.

A central filter/splitter performs this function far better.

If you are using any wireless devices, interference is often picked up on the telephone cabling, which the central filter splitter isolates all telephone voice/fax frequencies from the ADSL data signals, minimising possible interference.

Central filter/splitters provide the fastest-possible connection speed.

By all means, try replacing in-line filters first, even placing two on each handset, but from experience, a central filter/splitter will perform better.... then you won't need any in-line filters at all.
