    Default GE NX4 Wiring

I have a problem with my new alarm. The zones do not light up on the kpad when triggered. armed or not. a walk test seems to work and the PIRs do light up when walked past.
can someone check the wiring below and let me know if i have gone wrong somewhere.

    thanks

Seems like you have wired it right. Just going to have a stab in the dark here.

    Look at the following;

    FEATURE 16
    SEGMENT 2
Make sure 1 is off. If ON this enables the LED extinguish option.

    also,

    FEATURE 22
    SEGMENT 5
Make sure 3 is off. If ON this disables all Hardwired Zones.

Always default panels before programming even if they are "Brand New". Let us know how you go.

i have tried resetting the unit. same issue. unless i am not resetting it correctly. 971300 once powered on within 10sec. it seems to arm the unit though. no 3 beeps.

not sure how to check the features/segments. the manual is not clear cut.
think i might need a pro. to program it for me.

    Cool

disconnect the zone I/P wiring at the panel, the zone leds should flash as the zones are unsealed. Next terminate the zone I/Ps with the resistor on the cct board, this should seal them & extinguish the LED. If this doesn't happen then the problem is related to the panel itself & as George has mentioned it is probably a programming issue.

ok tried that. z1 light up for a little while then nothing. strange
i read somewhere to wire the PIR like this. Tamper on PIR, go's to the Z1,2,3,4 on the box. resister then goes between the other tamper terminal and alarm terminal on the PIR, the on the other Alarm terminal goes back to the C between the 2 Z1, Z2.

If you look at the way i wired it Z1 > alarm, etc

now it seems z1 lights up like every second time. no other zones light up though. walk test works on all zones

Enter the program mode by using the procedure on page 9 of your manual, then type 9-1-0-#. The code pad will beep 3 times indicating that the factory settings are loading. The loading takes about 6 seconds.

The reason you do this is to make sure everything is factory default. Then proceed to program your system. Never trust that the panel is default when you purchase it, sometimes suppliers test units, sometimes they are returns which have been found to be working ok. Give it a go and see.

Have been doing this for 8 years now since I purchased 50 panels in a row off a supplier over the course of time, (3 months) and 2/10 had faults until defaulted, so make it habit to default as soon as power is applied.
