    Default Satellite positioners

Hello. just a quick question. Is there a difference between a "V Box 2 Superjack Disteqc Positioner" and a "Moteck V-Box 2 positioner"? If there is, what is it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Wink

I've never given this much thought in the past, but suggest only cosmetic.
The length of the Jacks, govern how much of the Clarke Belt they cover or which part of it.

They both do the same thing.

Perhaps compare specs to see if there are any differences.

Dont Moteck and their clones use the voltage supplied by the Satellite receiver to operate but some screw jacks require higher (36V) power which when you use one of those external controllers.
The only other difference I thought was that you used a Moteck type on up to a One Metre sized solid and screw jacks on bigger diameter mesh dish's.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

    Gordon,

Moteck is a brand not a type.

I think you're confusing the horizon to horizon (H-H) motor with the jack/actuator.

The OP is asking about positioners, which are used to control actuators/jacks.

Moteck sell these as well as H-H motors.

I'm sure they'll both do the same job. They prob look the same as well.

Thanks for the replies. The superjack is made in China and has 99 positions as opposed to 66 on the Moteck. I wouldn't use that many at all, maybe 20 at the most. I have a positioner that sort of works sometimes ~15 years young, therefore it is time to upgrade.

My setup is a 3.5 metre solid Al. dish which uses a screw jack to move it from 95 deg. E long. to 180 deg. E long. Beyond that are hills. The dish is near vert. at 95 deg. Of course it has a counter balance, concrete blocks. The dish is ~ 100m away from the house. All the cables are housed in a aerial suspended poly pipe.

I would be inclined to go with the superjack. What do you think?

Whichever one you choose, make sure it has the correct voltage and current capacity to drive the screw jack.

I would assume it's pretty heavy duty to move such a heavy dish.

Cable length @ 100m can be quite lossy...... are you using RG11 and/or an amp?

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes I am using RG11. Picked up ~ 200m at a 2nd hand place. It is a cable that can be used under ground ie. waterproof. I have had no problems at all before in moving and using the dish, it is now I need to upgrade the positioner.

    Cheers
