Magstripe reader, Standard ABA Magstripe output: Track 2

Provided by CS Tech, not an overly secure system, if you program a "0" in the card data, you can unlock doors with Medicare cards LOL.

You should be able to use any Magnetic strip card reader as long as it's a standard track 2 card reader. Speak to CS and they should be able to hook you up.

    Yeah I appreciate that George,
But they wanted to stick to the SAME reader they had (40 + on site) so makes it hard when you think
Cs controllers, cs readers, they are the old style, the new style is something like the shape of a packet of smokes..(mainline branch and das branch had never seen them and the mainline tech has been int he game 20 yrs..)

I have now given them the option of using any track 2, brand swipe - now waiting to hear form the project manager, the whole jobs a shambles,

No codepads on the inside areas, can swipe and enter, but alarm isn't tied to access, so even if it was you couldn't arm it on the way out as they didn't put anything in the spec...Thats just one issue, they spec'd the 2 new 16ch dvrs to be installed in A block and theres no way you can get a cable there let alone 15... so one dvr goes in c block and the other goes in A for the future expansions...

Ill be glad when this is finished,
they have added 2 more cams d/stairs (2 storey building with fixed ceilings), have to get these 2 codepads in, plus some other bits in other areas..
2 detectors in the whole building and A reed....
I wish I was a consultant on these projects.

    Answer to your reply Keef82

I'm not exactly new to this,
I contacted my Cs tech distro who has been wholesaling for quite some time,
I contacted everyone I knew in the game, and thats why I posted on this forum,

I did phone the electrical contractor (had to be a tool who put it all in, in the first place) "oh there was nothing around that would work with their d/base and integrate to the alarm !) Double tool,
I wish these guys would stay out of security!!! Period

Thanks for all your endeavors to help out a soldier, I know where to get my hands on these babies if I need some, or if they just want the access going then well Ill get some from my supplier.

Nothing worse then an access control system that is not linked into the alarm system, eeek people always come into secure areas and set alarms off hehe

i hardly ever (if ever) use a system purely dedicated to access control.

Not saying this is teh case in this scenario obviosly (sp.) Sec Tech has "inhertited" this system.

I dont really see the point in using dedicated Access control when most systems nowadays are dual purpose, and the added features allow for so much more, like badge to arm/disarm etc
