Default Installing Aus maps on an NZ unit??? Noob needs help

Iv just gotten home from nz. It was cheaper to buy a tomtom xl250 over there than it was to hire one through the hire car company.

It only has NZ maps on it and now I'm home I want Aus maps too.

Sorry for my lack of tech knowledge, I haven't been able to find any instructions on how to install the new maps and keep the old.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks, Pete

If the navcore (application) on your device is currently at least version 9.01x or higher, then you can install the full featured Australia 915.5074 map.

Simple instructions are already in the first post of this thread. Just copy across the new map folder into the root of the device. Run FastActivate and patch the map.

There are a couple of old guides or tutorials:

    1) To simply update the map:

    2) For a full clean install, follow this tutorial:

    TomTom GO 730, Navcore 9.051c, 64Mb RAM, Australia 925.5412, Bootloader: 5.5250
    TomTom ONE v1, Navcore 9.170SE, 32Mb RAM, Australia 925.5412, Bootloader: 5.5244

    Cheers. Thanks for that.

Then on start up of the device does it ask which maps you want to use or does it just work it out itself?

    No problem.

It may ask you, or you can always switch maps in the device menu.

It might help to download a manual for the device if you don't have one
    As a general rule:
If a new map is activated properly (.dct file present in the map folder), but another map was present on the device,
a TT will always stick to the last map that was used.
Some users have problems after updating a map as they leave the old map on the TT.
So obviously the TT keeps using the old map since noone told the bloody thing to do differently.
Only if the old map folder was deleted or the new map is selected in the menu a TT will actually use the new map.
Only excemption is if the old map folder is kept and the new files replace the old ones.

Hi there, I may be new here but many people will know me from elsewhere.

Anyway, If you have a device with the latest v915 New Zealand map installed (or any previous NZ map in fact) then we would very much like you (pretty pleeeeese) to share the meta with us as these NZ metas are VERY hard to come by.

    ps great forum

We haven't even got a meta for the 910 maps at this stage. However the Android version of 910 will work on a normal tomtom and there is a meta for that.
Waiting for the android 915 to come available and hopefully a meta. Hope that helps

I fully appreciate that but the reason I asked is that pookie has actually bought a device with the NZ map installed (assume it also came with latest map guarantee too) so guessed he would/could share the meta with us.
