    Default PS2 and TV problem!

Hi, my daughter has a PS2 and we are having problems with it playing PS1 games on a Goodman TV but when we connect it to other TVs in the house then no problemo, it will play the PS1 games! Any ideas what we need to do? We are using a SCART socket on the Goodmans and I have tried every permutation going in terms of configuration!

Yes Ljay was refering to the same thing RCA or as you know them AV cables, typically the red, white and yellow plugs.

I'm not familar with the brand of TV but you mentioned that you tried the av cables but your using a scart connector. Does this mean its a scart to RCA convertor or does your TV have separate AV inputs? Will this TV play PS 2 games ?

thanks for the clarification. I have tried the AV leads into the AV socket on the TV as well as using the SCART adapter but with no joy. The TV accepts PS2 games with no problems.

    cheers

They are definitely PAL and they play fine on the two other TVs we have in the house. Unfortunately, swapping my daughter's TV for one of the other two is not an option.

    is the ps2 chipped ?
there use to be a problem with some older model chip where you would get B&W playback with ps1 games

How do I know if the PS2 is chipped?

We only bought the PS2 last week and as I say, it can play PS1 games on two other TVs but not on my daughter's.

    ahh ok
if yuou bouht it new then it it is not chipped
since it happens only on the one television , it is definetly a television issue and not the ps2 .
can I ask how old the television is ?
as this was quite a common thing with tv's that are certain age , ie generally between 89 and 98

The TV is probably no more than 3 years old, 4 years tops. I have tried to contact the TV manufacturer using an on-line enquiry form which they responded to by giving me a help line number which just rings out! Great customer service!

Can you explain what you are seeing visually on the tv set?

Like: Tearing of pictures, rolling, distorted etc..

I take it that the Goodman TV is an LCD?

We get the opening credits of the game but at the point where the game is due to come up with the start screen we get a blank screen. the Sound also disappears.

Yes, the Goodmans is an LCD TV

If you boot your PS2 with no disc, and go to the System Config option.

Can you tell me what your settings are for:
    • Screen Size
    • Component Video Out
    • Digital Out

    Cheers
