    Default Lnb frequency

Hi All, I am a noob for this forum and Satellite TV setups in General.

I have managed to learn a lot in a few days reading your forums but am stuck now.

    I have an openbox S9, connected to the net and a 1.8m Solid motorised dish with 1 C band Lnbf 5150, I am located in Indonesia and would like some guidance on the following please;

1a. I want to get S band for Indovision on Sat SES7, i can install another LNB on my dish but my open box only goes down to 5150, how do I tune it ?

1b. Assuming I can do the above, I do need S band for the frequency 2505 to 2655 ?

    2. I am also going to install. KU band LNB as well to receive Astro Channels on Measat 3 which has a frequency range of 10982V to 12476V, what frequency LNB do I Need to buy.

I will add a Diseqc switch to my system (4 into 1) and configure the ports accordingly, I will also be adding another fixed dish 2.4 m solid to get signal from C1/D3 for the obvious.

Thanks in advance and keep up the great work, cheers.

    You need an S-band LNB(F), e.g. and .

The Zinwell S-band LNB has a local oscillator freqwuency of 3650 MHz (3.65 GHz), while some other brands (from memory) have a local oscillator frequency of 3620MHz (3.62 GHz).

This can be set up in an Openbox S9 by following the following procedure...

1/. Make SES7 active in the Satellite List area of the Installation Menu. If not already there
add it (red button on remote control unit) or edit (yellow button) an existing unwanted satellite (name).

2/. Go into the Antenna Setup menu (MENU > INSTALLATION > ANTENNA SETUP) Select SES7.

3/. Change the LNB frequency to that of the S-band LNB you have bought (3620 is already listed in my Openbox S9).

4/. Set up the DiSEqC settings to reflect the input you have used to connect the S-band LNB to your DiSEqC switch.

There's a fairly comprehensive thread regarding Indovision (SES7) reception in the forum at .

    2. I am also going to install. KU band LNB as well to receive Astro Channels on Measat 3 which has a frequency range of 10982V to 12476V, what frequency LNB do I Need to buy.
Use an Universal LNB(F) (local oscillator frequency typically 9750-10600) for reception of Astro channels on Measat 3 - e.g. .

I will add a Diseqc switch to my system (4 into 1) and configure the ports accordingly...
Use the same procedure, steps 1 to 4 (above), this time substituting appropriate details for Measat 3.

    Hi All,

Well I finally got around to installing the new LNB for Ku Band, been traveling quite a bit the last 2 months.

Had very little problem setting it up as Tristen said, thanks very much for that.

The S band is a whole other matter, my Openbox S9 only goes down to 5150 so cant set up S band for Indovision :-(, wife a little sad as some of her favorite shows are on this system. Any Ideas please ?
