    Default 7 inch chinese GPS Flicker. Please HELP !

    Hey guys,

    I purchased a 7 inch gps unit for my honda accord.
    I wired everything up and it turns on fine, but once i start to use the the navigation (igo8) it randomly exits and opens up the CD player or the radio. It doesn't only happen with the navigation; while I'm using the radio it constatntlyflickers to a different station. It also happens whilst watching DVDs.

    I would really appreciate some help, if i could fix the problem; it will save me from having to send the item all the way back to china!

    I've uploaded a video to mediafire if you want to see what i mean

    Thanks again.

    I'm afraid you will have to do so. The problem described, I'm pretty sure, has neither to do with iGO, nor with the OS itself.

    Default Send it back ASAP

    I wouldn't hesitate to get it replaced under warranty. Ours doesn't do any of those unwanted tricks and if it did I would find it extremely annoying.

    thanks guys !

    I took the whole unit out and re-wired everything.
    everything is working now, the only problem is igo8.
    once igo starts, it runs for a few seconds but then it crashes.

    any ideas on why this is happening ?

    thanks again !

    Any error message? At what stage crash happens? Only vague informations don't help here ... Post contents of iGO's crash.txt.

    there are no error messages, it crashes at random times; not predictable at all. It wont run for longer than 20 seconds without closing.
    although once it closes i can press the navi button and open up igo from exactly where it closed.
    so I'm not to sure if its crashing or just closes randomly.

    cant find any crash.txt in the contents.

    I hope this helps

    Now it's clear: iGO dosn't crash.

    1. Delete folder "save"
    2. Run iGO again
    3. If iGO without yours intervention closes again, then post contents of iGO's file sys.txt here.

    I just deleted the 'saves' folder, ran iGO; but it's still closing without my intervention.

    the sys.txt file is:

    [interface]
    skin="ui_igo8"
    vga=0
    mapfontscale=100
    show_exit=1

    [rawdisplay]
    class="landscape"
    highres=0
    screen_x=800
    screen_y=480

    [tts]
    tts_buffer=131072
    tts_logics=3
    priority="HIGH"
    always_say_road_names=1
    announce_street_name=1
    expected_engine_delay=1400

    [debug]
    skip_eula=1
    enable_roadshadow=1

    [map]
    auto_nightmode=0

    [msnd]
    msnd.start=0

    [gps]
    port=2
    baud=9600

    It seems to me for what reasons ever iGO sends an SLEEP to the GPS. IMHO you have to play with iGO's power setting. Read to get an idea how to.

    You also could add a line to [debug] section as shown

    [debug]
    showsuspendmessage=1

    Important: After having made any changes to file sys.txt delete folder save before restarting iGO.

    I tried playing with the power setting and i also added:

    [debug]
    showsuspendmessage=1

    still no luck !
    igo starts and then after a few seconds it closes.

    I've deleted the save folder each time.

    well, at first the gps would close constantly; so i took out the entire unit and rewired it just making sure no wires were touching metal.
    after that, the dvd and radio stopped flickers and switching through stations, but the iGO itself continued.

    in the end it was the simplest thing interfering with iGo randomly closing and opening up the radio or CD player; it was because i still had my AUX cable connected to the AUX input, without any media device connected. once i removed the cable, iGo seems to be working!

    hope this helps, and thanks a lot for all the help
