Default Voip on mobile phone, pro's and con's ?

I want to reduce my phone expenditure and been thinking about voip, only problem is i dont want to spring for a Bob unit or other voip system and my modem is not where i want my phone placed.
So thinking of going with naked dsl and then setup a mobile for voip, obviously this will only work while at home or will it charge me mobile rates for receiving calls while away from home network ?

a cordless VoIP phone might be more practical

    + 1 for Viber
When I was a kid, I used to have an imaginary friend. I thought he went everywhere with me. I could talk to him and he could hear me, and he could grant me wishes and stuff too. But then I grew up, and stopped going to church.

the greater problem with using a VoIP client on a mobile with most models is that if you get an incoming call on the mobile number it either drops the VoIP call or just puts it on hold, I use VoIP over mobile a lot but not on a handset that I use for incoming calls

Sounds logical. I use a google voice number connected to my talkatone account. So I pretty much make free calls from my tablet or android devices whenever I am in a hotspot area.
