Ridata are meant to be the same brand as Ritek and the Ritek single layers are pretty good discs, so i am hoping if i can save a third of the price then id go for the Ridata...
Verbatim DL is the cheapest you will get and remain almost trouble free. Most traders on here will not except anything but Verbatim DL for 360 trades because there just not good enough. I went through the same reasoning as you when I got my xbox360 5 months ago. After reading on many forums it was clear Verbatim DL where the only acceptable brand to use. The sooner you bite the bullet the easier it will become

Ridata are crap.
some ppl have experienced that ridata will not load on a hitachi drive or they take longer to load.
I have a toshiba drive and they work. However, I have had a lot of failures in burning the ridata over verbatim (10:1) and I have also had a few ridata discs that couldn't be re-burnt from. they get to the end of the 1st layer and just sit there.
For the extra $1 a disc, the verb are definately a better choice.
ridata are hit and miss not worth the trouble on a hitachi
I have read up on other forums the same thing... So will stick to the Verbatims...
I found the info after i started this thread searching on google as i had a bit of time at work today....

sometimes you do want to go back and play it again in 6mths time.
However in saying that, i have some games I wish I put on cheap ass discs as I haven't played them at all (after frist few minutes) or won't play them again.
$43 delivered for 10 verbs is a lot to pay. $60 delivered for 20 verbs is still a lot to pay. when you just have it sitting in a folder and won't use it again.
Once I finish a game that it for me .. I move onto next game ... and if I do want play 6 months down track ..not readable then I burn again ... as I keep .iso's ..
$13 delivered for 10 pk of LASERS DL's

i have been using ridata for ages and not a single problem with any of them
at least 200 across me and my friends
all drives except benq
One thing that people do not realize is that the burner is just as important as the media, as well as the age of the burner, yes burner lasers wear out just like every other laser. One of the reasons why burners work better at half speed is that the laser does not have to work as hard, this becomes more important especially when your burner is getting on in hours.
Some burners also like different media better than others.
All these variables make it really hard to put your finger on what media works and what doesn't, because it is a combination of the burner, the media AND the reader.....and the state of the reader laser and type.
All that said I have found that a brand new Hitachi was a bit of hit and miss with Ridata using my burner, but they work fine with BENQs. Verbatim does seem to be the best all round.
One other thing, don't assume because your burner is brand new that it works perfectly, I had a new burner that would complete a burn properly, but you could SEE where the burn FADED OUT on the disk, at first I thought it was crap media, but it turned out to be a dicky burner, sometimes the disks would work and sometimes not.
And even the Firmware will make a difference. I bought a Pioneer DVR-212 just for burning Xbox 360 games, using Verbatim DL at 2.4x still would get the odd coaster, I then Flashed my old Sony DRU-800A (many coasters) with Liteon SOHW-1693S firmware, tried that and have not had a coaster from Verbatim disks in many months, I tried a pack of 10 Ridata DL's, 3 coasters, I'll stick with Verbatim thanx, with my old Sony burner (with Liteon Firmware), while it burns well.
Cheers

Although it is important to note failures and reasons for them.
One thing that hasn't been said yet is it could also be the pc that is causing the failures. what is running in the background in windows, other programs running etc etc.
This thread is more about the compatibility of ridata discs in xbox 360 consoles and more importantly what dvdrom drives they will work with and which drives are picky about loading the ridata discs
So far ridata works in
Toshiba MS28 drive - works fine
Benq drives - works fine
Hitachi - Hit and miss, may take longer to load.
I guess now since there are a few different Hitachi drive models, we need to find out what drives the ridata work with and what drives they dont work with.
Also anyone with a Toshiba MS25 Drive that knows if ridata works or not?
