Default 'Security' Chip in new Lightning connectors for iphone 5

Looks like Apple have done to third party connectors what the printer manufacturers did to their ink tanks......stuck in a chip so only expensive genuine Apple connectors work on iphone 5 with ios7 or 'certified' connectors that pay licence fees to Apple so they work.

Well there you go...I'm only a year late

Although the chip has been there since the iphone 5, it has only started being used as a block since ios7......from your article
'.... commented that with future generations of Apple and non apple gear, we could possibly see even stronger control and security if market forces merit it.'
It now looks like 'market forces' have come into play

A lot of the shitty/cheap ones will still charge even with the error.
