Default Olympic Games on FTA sat

    Hi guys,

Thought I'd start a thread on it as no doubt there will be much interest in this once it begins.

So far I've seen ads on DragonTV on Chinasat6B. They will be showing all (possibly only the shanghai games) of the olympic soccer matches live. Australia is one of the teams they were advertising

    Default maybe

I've only recently picked up nss6 so I could be wrong but I seem to be getting more transponders now so I thought these might be in readyness for the games.

some if not all seem to be intended for Australia as one in particular was canvasing for rental. Most seem to be from Taiwan.
Maybe someone more experienced can shed some light on this.

    Guys,

I hope I'm wrong however given the amount of money Ch7 have paid, I very much doubt that there will be any FTA coverage on sat. All Satellite feeds (excluding non rights holders) will be encrypted as is the policy by the IOC.

In 2004, Intelsat i701 had an extra 8 feeds but all were encrypted.

Anyway, I hope I'm wrong. In any case, SBS should be showing the football live - they are an associate broadcaster (sub rights with ch7)

DragonTV haven't encrypted in the past for sporting events but of course that doesn't mean they won't this time. I've also read that 6 CCTV channels will be showing olympic programming. It said CCTV-1 will be showing events.
