    Default Original Xbox DVD drive

Anyone know where you can buy a replacement drive for the original xbox?

Mine died and I tried replacing the laser but unfortunately it didn't fix it so I need I whole new drive but I am having a hell of a time trying to find one.

Would my best bet be to buy a secondhand xbox & hope the drive in it is still good?

Did you take the antistatic solder blob off the new laser before you put it in?

If so, I would say a secondhand unit is probably going to be the simplest option or try ebay for a drive.
What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?

I have a "as new" Xbox, with Samsung DVD Drive. I'll sell the drive for $100 - no offers, as you can't buy them in this condition, most on Ebay are crap factory seconds or refurbs - they never seem to work 100%.

What type DVD drive do you currently have?

you can buy a used xbox with 1 controller and the leads for 69$ from eb games.

that is for a whole console, not just the drive.

they have 12 months exchange warranty as well.

for another way of getting one pm me

If you have it modded then your best bet it to replace the xbox drive with a normal pc dvd drive. It works much better and quicker than the xbox drives anyway. You will need a normal computer power cable "Y" shaped splitter for this. The only problem with this method is that it makes the xbox look a little ghetto like. Also, it won't read originals anymore so you will have to make a backup of them.. It will play original movie dvds, and any burnt game.

I did this with my xbox after the original dvd drive died. I just used a crappy old pc dvd drive that I found in the bin at work. Any old drive will do the trick.

Or go by one from eb as the last person said.

Do what Poison said and swap the DVD drive over...simple, easy and effective. try and get a 2005 xbox from ebgames....the drive in those works really well.
