Exclamation more bad news for solar panel owners in WA

The Department of Energy proposed regulations to protect solar panels (PV or water heater) from shading by adjacent high buildings.
However these never made it to the revised regulations. The WA government is a friend of the property developers.

While I bet very few have ever considered 'shading' occurring from adjacent buildings AFTER installing Solar water/electric panels, if this regulation was in place there is the problem if the people next door to a Solar house who may want to build a second story extension which are becoming very popular in many areas and now cant because it would over shadow the Solar System next door.
While you wouldnt stop anyone installing any sort of Solar system, 'Shadowing' might have to be considered to ensure the panels are located in the best possible place on the roof.
This is a bit like some areas having visual regulations in place to prevent that happening.
I can certainly see the sense in such a regulation to prevent a block of land on the sunny side that was zoned for a standard dwelling up to 2 stories only being rezoned to allow a multi story high density building to be placed there.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
