In France you are limited to 25mW tranmitters with FPV, I have a 600mW

You do realise that the 25mW limit also applies in AU. But yes, policing it is another matter. The ACMA couldn't give a rotund rodents rectum about most 'minor' interference issues these days.

Anyone wanting a cheap alternative, no camera attached, just to learn how to fly a Quadcopter before spending big dollars on something that you may lose or destroy as it flies happily into the distance, try one of these.

I am planning on using the 25mW transmitter in the antenna tracker to the fatshark goggles

my biggest advantage is I have a lot of bush around me - I have worried the neighbour a couple of times with the new LED strip around the arms, he wasn't quiet sure what it was buzzing around at night

Now thats a lot of fun!

They are good fun and easy to fly in GPS & attitude mode, manual mode is a handfull but easy enough with plenty of practice.

As far as FPV I use a pair of Sony HD 3D goggles, bit of overkill but I already have them so saw little point paying for something with less quality

I run 2 X Turnigy manotech 4400mah batteries and get around 18min flight time, the batteries weight 270 odd gramms each. Weight is the biggest battery killer that affects flight times. Having said that the F550 weighs in at 2.4kg..

Check out this video, DJI F550 from the same spot in Perth, I doubt there was a flight plan lodged tho

Are you using 3S or 4S?? That's a sensational flight time.

EDIT: NVM - Saw it in the video description. Um... that's rather high.....

TomaHawk. I agree with you regarding the cost of the Zenmuse. DJI however have been offering a few package deals of late which make them very attractive. IE: Naza V2, GPS, Zenmuse all for less than the standard Zenmuse cost.

Oh, and your video. I recognise that spot . Another Perth member.
Another member posting his quadcopter vids in the forum, you should check them out, he's a good pilot.

Hey Drift you got any updates on your setup & some vids?

This is a year old now, but though it was fairly impressive

And while strictly not a drone, this was interesting too.

I've already managed to go passed the small entry level drones and found how to spend some proper money

And that is cheap compared to some which are $3500 and up.

Yep that's impressive especially the price.

Did you go for prop guards with that Phantom 2?

There seems to be differing opinions on whether you should have them or not.

    The pros of prop guards.

The pros & cons of prop guards.

The cons of prop guards - Prop Turbulence?

EDIT: Saw this in the Phantom 2 add.
Fun flying by itself or even better with a GoPro to record the action. Tested with Hero3 and Hero3+ models, sold separately. Note: Wi-Fi streaming from a camera is not possible because it may interfere with the Phantom's remote control.
Is that correct, as that would be a bummer, I would want to be able to stream?
