I have to upgrade few PCs at work running Vision inspection under Windows 98 SE, all PCs are Intel4 2.4Ghz. Existing systems are a bit slow for what we are trying to achieve.
Windows 98 is an absolute requirenment and I cannot unfortunately change it.
Here is the question; Which CPU I can use?
I am not sure if Windows 98 SE can utilise Intel Duo technology. Should I use single core CPU above 3 Mghz only or there is a way of running Duo as well?

A virtual machine might also be a option that will suit you. I run a Win98SE VM on my XP machine for some of the old sat apps that only work on Win98.
By reading this, you have already given me control over a tiny slice of your mind
Thank you, mandc. The info did nswer my questions.
Thank you covert for your suggestion. I am afraid the Virtual machine will not be an option as I need a lot of processing power allocated to the vision inspection application. Also as Win98 will use only 1 core, using Duo core CPU will make the machine slower.
p4-2.8 HT is a good choice.
