Default Project - Jukebox NSM Firebird

    Hi ,

Just thought I share my project.

I'm in the process of restoring and modifying a 90' NSM Firebird Jukebox

    Modifications to date.
Complete Removal of Fluro lighting and LED fit out.
Design and installation of a light organ circuit with sound detect and attract mode
Design and installation of VU Circuit to light pillars
Constructed new IR receiver based on arduino PIC , to ad remote keypad ( track selection) and random track number generator.
Jukebox had already been upgraded to a cd-pro2lf laser unit - so added a VCD decoder for music video cd's

Youtube clip of new lighting effects

    Some Early Tests

    and some early photos

    Cool

    Hi Clayton,

I've recently bought a NSM Fire-Country - very similar jukebox as I'm sure you know - and really want to make some mods - along the lines you have taken.

So far I've fixed a number of issues the unit had and added a new LED light - behind the head of the bird (for some reason the Fire-Country never had a light in this location - no sure if the Firebird is the same?). What I'd really like to do is add remote control to the unit through an Arduino or similar and have seen that you are doing just this "Constructed new IR receiver based on arduino PIC , to ad remote keypad ( track selection) and random track number generator."

Are you able to share any information about what you've done / how you've approached this?

I am just starting to think about this and looking around at what others have done. I have a wired remote that I am pretty sure I could 'inpersonate' with the Arduino - once I've opened it up to have a look at what signals it sends when I press the various buttons. Is this what you've done? Is there a better way?

What I haven't got a clue on is the track selection. A similar approach to understand what signals are being sent by the keypad?

It would be fantastic if you could share with me what you've done / or give me some pointers!

I checked out your video and the lighting looks fantastic - that's definitely gone onto my list of mods too!

    Cheers,

    Mike
