I can not answer your question but why not just save as normal .docx and .zip or .rar them with a strong password?
I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this query. I need to pass around some documents in word format to less than tech savvy clients and I currently have those docs in password protected ODT files produced by the latest version of LibreOffice (LO) under Mint. To my knowledge, the encryption in LO is quite strong and passing this information around on ODT wouldn't pose a problem, except that the individuals in question have never heard of LibreOffice or OpenOffice etc and would/couldn't install it anyway. So what happens to the password/protection when I save the files to .docx (win 2007/2010)? Is the encryption maintained? Are the LO algorithms the same across the platforms, I would imagine they are, but don't really know.
Cheers
OC

Update: A deletion of features that work well and ain't broke but are deemed outdated in order to add things that are up to date and broken.
Compatibility: A word soon to be deleted from our dictionaries as it is outdated.

Why not use at client side "LibreOffice Portable". Runs from USB-stick or Flash-memory. No installation required. All data are kept/remain on USB-stick.
