Default Galaxy Tab 2 Feature missing?

I was asked by a friend about the Galaxy Tab 2 he has (not sure if 7 or 10 inch) about a feature called a 'screen saver'
He said bought the Tablet new and is only about 6 or so months old.
I have never seen this tablet so I can only go on his description but he said on the 'bottom' of the case were 4 options, 'Back', Home' 'Menu' and what he called a 'Screen Saver'.
Its this 'screen saver' option he can no longer access.
He said by pressing this 'screen saver' option you could 'save' what ever was on the screen but it doesnt respond at all now.
He said it 'disappeared' when he tried to load 'Skype' into the Tablet, that didnt work either apparently.
I did a Google trying to find any details on this Tablet and the one saw showed 4 items at the bottom of the case, the last one looked like the dots on my Tab 3 you press to access the APPs.
I will keep looking online and hoping in the meantime a member who has one or is familiar with this Tablet might be able to give some advise on how to fix this problem.

    Thanks for the reply Peter,
Push the On Button and DOWN sound button at the same time, is this at Start Up or any time?

When you turn it on, it displays a screen with a 'padlock' and you need to 'Swipe' it to one side to gain access to the main Menu of options etc unless you have set a Password.
