    Default Satellite actuator problem

    Hi everybody,
I am trieng to set up a QARL 3624+ Heavy Duty actuator to a 3m mesh dish. I have connected up the 4 wires from the Phoenix remote positioner box to the actuator arm. The motor and all the working bits appear to be happy and working but the inner tube does not move in and out.
I have connected up two HARL 3624+ Super jack actuators before over the years and have never had this trouble. Can anybody tell me how to fix the problem? Thanks.

I don't understand how all the working bits appear to be working fine but the tube doesn't move in and out?
So you can hear the motor running but no movement at all? Maybe a stripped gear?

If the motor is working but the inner tube isn't moving, then it's probably a broken gear.

Edit: weirdo beat me too it. Must have been typing replies at the same time.

Thanks for the reply's guys. The actuator is brand new! As I said in the first message everything is all happy - motor working etc. Damn... I am going to have to go back to the retailer tomorrow.

David, did you actually install the actuator on a dish?
If the active end is not mounted fixed and can spin loose it will not extend

Like winding up an old screw type car jack, you could turn the handle but unless the top was held firm, it just spun uselessly.

Although you said you have installed one before, I saw a notice on the ones I have not to apply power to the Jack unless the end is attached either because it upsets the stops or drive mechanism.

    Hi everybody,
Finally managed to get sometime after a busy week to connect the new actuator which I exchanged Monday afternoon. To my delight the inner tube turns and works as it should...YIPPEE.... I am wondering about product quality control as the replacement actuator I received had internal wires - red, green and black that were loose and not even connected but I got to work! I am just wondering if anybody else out there has had any problems with actuators and the quality of the delivery as to if it works or not. Thanks everybody.
