Default Help with pointer to Aus map for win ce4.2

    I have bought a CE4.2, 7" w/s

What map do you recommend for Australia re features/kept up to date? (would really love something with new Eastlink in Melbourne)

Pointers to nice posts with easy instructions would really be appreciated as I am complete noob but capable of following instructions.

    Ta,
    Ian

    Hi Ben,

Mine came with Route 66 as well, haven't a clue whether it is cracked or not but it works. Did notice when stopped at lights/junction in Melbourne I would lose GPS momentarily.

Do me a favour - PM with details as to how to install IGO v8 and where to get map.

Once I have been led through one I'm hoping I will find the rest straightforward or at least come across as not being a complete noob!

    Cheers,
    Ian

I bought the previous model and it came with Route 66 and IGO 6, though I prefer IGO. I have since installed IGO 8 and that works great and it's very easy to install. Just copy the IGO8 root folder and maps onto your SD card, then go into settings on the GPS and select the IGO.exe in the IGO8 folder and away you go. You can easily change between versions.

I got IGO 8 and Aussie maps here . Main thing is getting the right screen res. Mines 480x272, you may have to put that in the config file yourself, but it's not hard. Just read thru the forum before you start.

It should work OK, just be wary of the data.zip having the screen size you need Can I ask what the unit is like? I thought of getting one, but not sure it will hook up to my amp etc for good sound

Ok thanks, the specs say that the screen is 1200 x 234 pixels.
Surprisingly the sound isn't too bad, in fact it's alot better than the OEM headunit that the car came with.
