    Default NasaTV in Adelaide?

As per this thread on Whirlpool

Can NasaTV be reliably recieved in Adelaide? If so what sort of gear is required? Internode's satellite supplier seems to have a problem with it.

Cheers for any input in advance.

    Default Nasa Tv

    Hey

Nasa Tv is on 701 (look at - Asia pacific region ). its a weak bird and circular pol so you will need a plate installed into the lnb to receive this bird . I have it working on 60 percent on a 1.8 meter in north queensland . Have been told that this satellite favours the lower east coast so yoiu shouldn't have a problem on a 1.8 / 2.3 meter .

BUT . this signal has been weak as shit for a long time then about 2 months ago they must have listened and we have a better db comming down. THIS COULD CHANGE and you would need most likley a 3 meter dish to receive with out any problems .

    Thanks Adam.
Make me wonder why Internode's Satellite installer reckons it's not feasible.
If your a member of Whirlpool, it would be good if you could post in the linked thread too.
    Cheers!

The way I see it, to run a internet feed, you'd require a dish that will work under all conditions, it can't just drop out each time it rains. If you need a 3m dish to receive the signal, your going to need a 5-6m dish to run any kind of reliable feed from it.

Re NASA TV on i701 - Lake Macquarie NSW.

Readjusted my 2.4m mesh dish so I'd get i701 - done.

AFN at full quality naturally (Would dearly like AFN i701 to carry The Pentagon Channel), but NASA TV also very good and stable.

No LNB plate fitted, (Standard Zinwell 21A), also getting the Fiji mob, fully stable but quality weaker. No other.

Interesting, years ago i had 701 here in Melb on a 2.3meter mesh also without the plate and got a weak signal and picture that was ok but pixilated a little in bad weather.

When i told some freinds they though i was crazy and told me its impossible without the plate.

Just been watching the ISS and Mission Control :-)

I keep finding myself dropping in daily, hourly - for a visit to this channel. Interesting studies they carry out. Good to see Russia and US working together, I'd reckon it'd be appropriate for a world effort with all this.....

I do suggest folk visit the online NASA website for schedules to find items of particular interest.

Yesterday, this had a kids education program, and actually just right for them academically, and 'of interest', enough so - that many kids would 'enjoy' the program.

But I totaly understand where your coming from this bird if stronger would be very good for other services too considering it is a good hop for us to the states . give me the nasa educational (lol spelling ) channell and madia ones . these are very good to

Smile its 3db down than 508 and 511 were

hi its 3 db down on 508 then 511 but a intelsat 9 or 10 series would be good. ofcourse all intelsat satellites should be linear not circular , remember 508 we had to track that abit with a drake 2000xt etc but it was still stronger than 701 on the analog channels especially when therre were some the good old days cheers hamguy2 nsw

NASATV will be available in the next week as a 3.5Mbs IPTV Stream, downlinked from i701 in Sydney, and transcoded into the TPG IPTV Network Stream. The IPTV service is free, but of course you have to be able to connect to TPG ADSL2+. A great number of areas throughout Australia, can avail themselves to this service. There are also many other FTA SatTV channels available on this service, from the Sats above us. Its pretty good, and complements the KU dish on the roof, so all is not lost. Great to see a company with some vision. Hope this helps.
    Cheers.
