Default Shower base painting - has anyone tried this?

I'm considering going down this path of repaiting a shower base to save costs. Just wondering what's a good product and peoples outcomes?

I'm assuming you're talking about an acrylic showerbase leroy?
Never done it myself but it has been done before.
You can get these mobs to come around and spray your whole shower/bath/tiles and all even over the grout.
I assume they use some sort of epoxy
    not sure of the lifespan
why do you want to paint yours? Is it just looking grubby? maybe a good scrub with a hard brush and some chemicals might do the trick?

If it isnt leaking then go ahead to use what ever is available but if it is leaking, what ever you do wont last long and if water has penetrated whatever is below the tray area, your only postponing the inevitable.

I can only go on what I have seen on Home Reno shows from both here and overseas and showers are one of the worst problem areas to patch up if theres a problem and unless your a real good handyman, it can be a major undertaking.

Like weirdo says theres lots of stuff on the market if your only wanting to 'Tart it up' but like everything, how good it is can be any bodies guess.

For cleaning, that white vinegar and baking soda makes a good non abrasive paste as well as killing mold and odours.

    need a bit more info

1: is it a fiberglass base

    2: is it a tile

if its is a fiberglass base then there are a few specialty paint's that are used in the marine
industry that work and does come up well .A thing to remember is that you can cut and polish it
as you would with a boat etc so that would be my first port of call.

If it is tiles then i have seen a few bathrooms that have been sprayed with an epoxy as mentioned
by weirdo and they did look good but as for its longevity etc i cant say i only saw the result
    whilst re-fitting the bathroom out.
dont say linux if i wanted it id install it

If it's tiled then clean it with spirit of salts diluted 8 parts water to 1 part salts, and use a mask, don't breath it in.

The base is like stone and just looks old. It's a rental so looking to not get too carried away. The tiles are starting to come loose so I was thinking of retiling or using that fake tile board, using a 2 pak product on the base and a new shower screen.

I was in Bunnings today and they didn't have anything which I was surprised.

Sounds like the old composite stone shower base, how old is the house, i know it has been suggested to give a scrub with acid but first try straight chlorine let stand for a while then a scrub and rinse. By tapping on it should give you an indication, if it sounds very dense then thats what it will be. Chlorine and water is a good way to clean your brick paving

By composite I take it you mean its one of those man made stones so if it has already been tiled, would just removing the old tile and just taking the surface back a MM or 2 be enough to retile and grout?
Although a bigger job, I would think replacing all the tiles would both look good and do a better job.
