Sounds anti-competitive - I wonder what the ACCC will have to say about that, regardless as long as Netflix get a start in Australia I'm sure any little issues will be resolved over time.SmartHouse has been told that at least five of the major studios have not given Netflix the rights to deliver content in Australia a move that should help Foxtel consolidate their content offerings in Australia.
Also I always wonder when new articles say "major" or "expert" without qualifying what that means exactly !
My hope is that Foxtel succeed in keeping Netflix out of Australia.
Reasons:
1. Netflix will no longer accept Aus. credit cards to force us to use the local version
2. It will have the 'Australia Tax' so no more $8/mth...more like $25+/mth
3. Much more limited range of content on offer than we can get from the US
It will be interesting to see if this includes any or all of the Austar areas as presently only the Mystar STB is being used there.
Various vague remarks are appearing advising of a 'New STB' being made available in the New Year but thats all.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
IQs are being installed in regional (Austar) areas now.
yes, I've got one. Doesn't do terrestrial.
Much more reliable than the Mystar but the user interface is not as good as the Mystar. From the first report it appears that this is one of the new aspects of the IQ. Hopefully it will only require a download not a new box to install the new software.
