English teenager Peter Clatworthy made some very bad decisions during an Xbox One auction on eBay, paying £450 ($735) and not even getting a console. He got a picture of a console.
Here’s the best part:The 19-year-old student told the Nottingham Post that he’d saved up the money so that he could buy the console as a surprise Christmas present for his four year-old son (right). Instead, he got the picture. And it wasn’t even a good picture! Just a crummy print-out.
Despite the listing stating it was a photo of an XBox One Day One edition console, Mr Clatworthy said he’d expected to receive the console as it was listed in the video games and consoles category on eBay.
He instead received the photo in the post on Monday, with it having ‘thank you for your purchase’ written on the back.
All’s well that ends well though, as with eBay’s help he got the money back. Well, sort of. He still doesn’t have an Xbox One.
No word on whether he got to keep the picture.

I couldn't help googling it.
Here is the picture...
What a muppet
There was a scam in the UK not that long ago where people were doing 'Car Boot' sales on one of the Apple laptops at an extremely low price and when you opened the package, it was a block of wood with an Apple logo pasted on it !!!
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!
reminds me of this

When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
There are some gooses out there, many can't read.
Very true but this ad was a con...pure and simple. No one is going to buy a picture of an xbox for that price...the people that set up the ad specifically wrote it to trick buyers (who assume sellers are honest) who don't read every word of the ad ...that was this guy's main failure.

Well the auction listing did say PHOTO of an Xbox One, so he's even a bigger muppet for falling for it.
Still, I can't side with these scammers so I'm glad eBay refunded him.
It's a good thing he got his money back but people really need to read the ebay descriptions, this has been happening for years and I'm sure some people were not lucky enough to get their money back.
The teenager got a real console given to him by his local games shop
Seriously? The kid's at fault in this one. 19 and his reading comprehension is that bad? Come on. No one should have felt sorry for him. I think it's sad that people thinks that this is an injustice..
Poor kid, he must felt really bad after this. I could not stop laughing when I read the news. People should be careful when buying on eBay and any other online store.
Have seen a lot of listings for 'invisible' instruments, such as 'air' guitars, etc on feebay.
For such a serious purchase like that, I would've thought he'd read the listing before actually buying it... or at least check that it was a trusted seller xD
