Default 34 GB upgrade for PS4 to play Blueray?

My Son tells me that his Sister's partner recently bought a PS4 and apparently it needs an 'Upgrade' to play BlueRay disc's and when they did, it took their whole monthly allowance of 34GB !!!

Not having spoken to her I have no idea of all the details other than to say she wasnt very happy.

Being on Wireless Internet with an 8 GB per month allowance, it would only take me 4.1 months to complete if they allow interrupted downloads.......Double that when I was on a 4 GB per month Satellite connection.
I stand unequivicably behind everything I say , I just dont ever remember saying it !!

That's insane! They can't forget people who have limited internet traffic.
At some point it would even make sense for you to book a hotel room where there's no limit and just leave it downloading overnight and pray it's finished in the morning.

Sorry Bloke, But that's just not possible..

I think you would find it just a fluke there downloads spiked at the same time the update was applied.

The update you are referring to is 480mb, nothing even close to 32000mb.

I can only go on what my daughter said and she claimed it took their full months Data allowance doing the update which is why I posted it as a warning for anyone using a PS4 to check first in case what she said was correct.

Yep and I go on facts... I don't mean to be offensive, but your daughter is clueless if she is claiming this...

The ps4 software update partition on the harddrive is 6gb.. This is the only place a system update can go... You can't fit 32gb into 6gb... Sure I might be willing to investigate that perhaps something went horribly wrong with the update thag resulted in a download loop.. Even then.. But to say the update was 32gb is like saying you need 35,000ltr of water to fill you 500ltr pond .
