Text To Speech On One Xl........

Are there any AUSSIES here that has worked out how to get TTS to work on TOMTOM ONE XL and if they have could they please post directions on how they did it?
I have tried over and over but can not get the computer voices to work

I can run with map share but would love to get the TTS working too.

I did download Kate computer voice in a 3 part rar.
Is it possible i downloaded 300mb of Kate that is not the right voice?
you all seem to be talking about "big Kate"
If so Im stuck until next week as i have used my download limit i have about 300 mb. until next sat if i go over the prices go up

If it is so that i have downloaded the wrong Kate computer voice then could some one please post a link with the correct "big Kate"?

Another thing is i didnt get the images attached and i did try to use 8011 also is it possible there are map files missing?

No, thats the right Kate. As long as you have saved them in the same folder, when you use winrar to extract part 1 it will extract part 2 & 3 as well.

Replace the LoquendoTTS file in the basic pack with this one and add Kate to that file.
Edit model.txt and type the word onettssdk.
I'm sure that is all I did. I might try it again to see if there is somthing left out.

I just run through it and worked fine.
1. blank sd card
2. Unrar basic back
3. unrar 8.011 ttsytem
4. copy and past your aus 720 map
5. Unrar Loquendo TTS to sd card (yes to all to replace existing)
6. Unrar kate to the Loquendo TTS file. (This is where you may have gone wrong. Make sure part 1,2 & 3 are saved in one folder on your pc. Then extract part 1 to another folder. You should have 1 zip kate file nearly 300mb. It is that file you unrar to the Loquendo TTS folder on the sd card)
7. Unrar switch files model.txt, changedtext.txt, fmon. (I don't know if fmon is needed, I just added it).
8. edit model.txt and type the word onettssdk
9. Run Easyusetools_for Keygen_Mapcheck_Metacheck folder and 2x-click RunMeforAllAutomatic.cmd
10. Should be good to go!

ok giving it a go now

fmon i beleive is for device,s that have fm radio so that they can use car stereo for sound i dont think one xl has that but i tried and still no sound

I did find a missing file though on in the loquendo folder i found it by downloading a small zip in the links you gave me.

I also deleted the SdkRegistry and the SdkRegistry2 folders, the new files.

and used the old switchfiles_to_use_only_without_sdk-option.rar
I then saved onettssdk in the model.txt and deleted,
changedtext.txt
cycle.txt
fmon
poweroff
ttsoff

Sweet, now have a OneXL with V8 software, 720map, mapsahre and TTS... pretty much following the instructions adams used on the ipmart forum.

i also used the single 300meg kate file... didnt need to add the 6.7 file (i assume that is from an older version as the new ones are 6.9)

Got gpsquickfix working again now just playing with some speed camera poi's.

ok so the 6.7 file is not needed cool i thought it was a missing file as the zip i got it from had the 6.9 files in it too.
maybe it was just a thing with all the switches it was hard working out the broken english though

hmmm do notice anything different with or without the 6.7 files? u have me thinking now if i should have them..

I noticed the new TomTom One now comes with

Whereis V.15 2008 Australia map

Wondering if you could use that same software on other models to get text to speech working. Without having to patch the non text to speech software and avoiding all those problems people are having?

Who knows all i know is we are last to get the technology in Australia that's why just getting mapshare was exciting to me.
Europe has version 8 with lane guide and some sort of traffic congestion thing (i guess it means it allows for peek times when planing routes) we still only have 7 and from what i understand tts was Not for the one xl its thanks to ttuser and all the other guys on ipmart forum that we can have this.

I was looking on the tomtom site at whats coming for au and i personly think there putting to much into the tomtom i have a good car stereo for all that

I don't think they come installed. You get 30 days to download the latest 2008 map guarenteed. (what does that mean if I bought one 29 days ago)
TomTom home has latest map v720.

As far as i know the 2008 map they talk about is v720.
I beleive it was only officially released June 1st the numbering system should match the year hey but then that would Make it confusing
Europe is already on v8 maps with the extras i was talking about.

As for new tomtom have a look as the Aus/Nz site the new tomtom coming soon is all shiny black and has heaps of extras it looks like Australia is about 10 months behind when it comes to tomtom which could be a good thing as the bugs are sorted long before we get the software/hardware.

Anyway must get to work i got to make money for the 3000 dollar lpg install i just booked for my car but that's a whole new subject...

Must look see if there are any threads here on that stuff.

Ok it looks like i was wrong about that extra file (Englishgb6.7lde) in the loquendo folder with it removed my tts works fine

It must have been either the way i installed Kate into the loquendo folder or the switches but for now its all good
