There are many other similar things that fit this description.
A favourite is UFOs. People want to believe aliens are real.
Reality is that there are no aliens visiting this planet and people just make shit up for a variety of reasons.

If n=N where N is the day on the old calender, N=x
So what day is 'X' ? Because x≠X

time is a distorting factor

shifting the goalposts with changes in time translation and interpretation reminds me of the bible's interpretation and rewriting by each different linguist that attempts to translate it

all good fun for us to figure out hundreds or thousands of years after when it happened

PC's post is good for a laugh, which is what it was intended to do, but it's not correct.
It's a bit of an urban myth.

Since nobody knows when the Big J was born, you might as well pick a random date.
And of course the church had political reasons for picking a date about that time of year.
And then the conversion from one callender to the other is a bit dubious. Your conversion comes out different from mine.

As for JC. If anybody was dumb enough to believe his Mum was a virgin, either as one of the stone throwing mob of goat herders or her chaperone,
then it's likely that they have no idea what day of the week it is.

Half the time, I have no idea what day of the week it is. Oh! I do happen to trust and rely on the teachings of the Bible, I have also learnt that half the time what we expect to be the "correct" interpretation of events, is, in fact, the exact opposite. The Jews were looking for a soldier to drive the Romans out of their "homes" and, God sends them a baby instead. Even Jesus' disciples expected him to lead a rebellion, and we all know where that ended up...
