Default Which &' tablet for $200?

    Edit...title wrong...which 7" tablet?

OK, thinking she was doing good, my wife got me the Aldi Bauhn 8" tablet and a micro card for Xmas.

I went and looked around at the specs..........
    Bauhn AT-HK8 Specifications:

8″ 1024×768 resolution Digital LCD Screen
    1.5GHz Dual Core Amlogic AML8726-MxS Cortex-A9 SoC
    1GB DDR3 RAM
16GB On-Board Storage with MicroSD Card slot up to 32gb
    2MP Rear Camera with 0.3MP Front-Facing Camera

    Built-in microphone
    8Ω 1W x 1C Internal Speaker

I looked at reviews on whirlpool and elsewhere, and was concerned at poor ratings for battery life, wifi dropouts, and poor viewing angles when sharing.

She says I can change it if I like, I think she paid $129 + a micro card

The hdmi port is very handy for putting various streams up on your tv if you like your sports, free movies etc.

My Daughter bought a sero and she is happy with it so far compared with the Aldi one she tried.?

The only thing that concerned me was the fact that they were branded Hisense who had a lot of trouble with their tele's early in the piece.

Personally I would go with the Samsung.

My wife has one, hasn't missed a beat in the couple of years she has had it. I also bought one for a mate 2 years ago and same for his.

I have a 10.1 original tab 1, currently running 4.1.1 Cyanomod still use it daily and it has never missed a beat.

I would spend the small amount of extra money and by a Nexus and be done with it. You get what you pay for.

    Thanks all...

    I decided I will get the Samsung SM-T2100ZWAXSA Galaxy Tab 3 7" 8GB WiFi Hifi from HN @ $198
It also has a 2 year warranty and access to 50gb of cloud data for 2 years.

I did not choose the Nexus, as it has no expandable micro card slot to use, albeit, if it did, I would have chosen that.
I could not locate the Sero 7 PRO anywhere, and it had me because of the mini hdmi etc....all Betta Electrical and JB stores all sold out, and each store told me that it was as good as the Nexus, but better priced.

Will get the Galaxy tomorrow at HN, as they have them in stock, and are the cheapest in my area of 2450.

    Thanks for the help...

    Good choice in my opinion.

As to card slots, I dont know why people bother these days. Every device I buy is 16 gig and whether it has a slot or not doesnt worry me as I am unlikely to use it.

Every photo I take auto uploads to my Dropbox account. And syncs to Google Drive. Files/software , its all the same and all goes to the same place. Music ? I dont know why people carry it around. There are tons of places to stream music from. So what does that leave to actually put on your device ?

Pretty much nothing. My phone (S3) shows internal memory of 11.35g. There is still 7 gig free. I have an empty 32 gig card in it which I bought because someone told me I would need it . My Galaxy tab has a similar amount used but no card.

Cheap no name tablets (including all of Aldi's) are just a waste of time and money. You see the same idiots on whirlpool time after time buying cheap junk and saying its great and then a week later saying its shit and trying to get a refund. As with most if not all tech items I buy these days, unless its a brand name I wont bother buying it. These no namers do little to no testing and can never produce firmware that actually has everything working at the same time. Every "fix" that comes out generally fixes one item and breaks another.

    Buy once, buy right.

I have 4 x Asus nexus 7 and there fantastic

    1. No lags in game play
    2. snappy ui
    3. update of os android ever few months
    4. long battery life
    5. loud speakers
    6. No bloatware

and I paid $159 each for them 16GB wifi version.

Samsung mrs has one it grats 10.1 tab but unfortunately they lack updates in the OS still cannot put jelly bean unless it get rooted and use custom rom.

hands down nexus you won't be disappointed + they are a quad core processor

    Well, what can I say?????

I had a late change of mind, after much pondering, and went with the Sero 7 Pro

Had to end up getting it here

It simply had the same basic specs as the Nexus, but with a card slot/hdmi out etc, that the others couldn't offer.

I also looked at this thread as some support/actual users for it

    Time will reveal all...

Thanks for the input and suggestions, as all did assist me.

I have had no bad experiences with it, and the battery life is real good, though I only use it a couple of hours at a time. I've only recharged it once, when it was at about 30%. I have only taken one photo, and was happy with it. It is a very responsive unit, play store is a breeze on it, applications download real fast. Video resolution is to my liking, and the sound is high through its built in speakers. I believe it is a good unit. I have a cheap 10" chinese unit, and it kills that. The 1gm ram is enough for me, don't see any stutter or lag from the stuff I have looked at/played.

I also have a Sero and am happy with it and got it to recognize a 64GB Micro Sdhc card.

It also streams from my Vu duo ok using Vu+ player.

It is my first tablet and if it is still going in 12 months time I shall be satisfied.

The choice is your sir...always yours. Make sure to pay attention to the Gigahertz. Anything above 1.5 is usually good for a tablet. Like in the case of the Asus model above. The RAM is also important. I have a 2 GB RAM in my Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet. I would suggest you get one of these tablets. They have windows 8 on them just like a regular laptop and you can get them for $200 - more or less.

What kind of sales tax do you Aussies pay? I keep hearing that things are more expensive there, but I keep wondering why. I understand the logistics of importing goods to Australia may be difficult; but how is it any more difficult then getting them to the US? There must be some reason.

We pay a flat 10% GST (goods and services tax). Things are more expensive because we have more disposable income.....and companies exploit it.

    -7-inch Display
-MediaTek 8125 1.2GHz quad core processor
-16 GB Flash Memory, 1 GB RAM Memory
