I have always enjoyed car racing games.
I was disappointed you can never get Gran Turismo for pc...grr
Anyhow, family got this game for me at Xmas and I installed it a few days ago.
What a mother f'er of a game to instal...by the time it did everything, it took about 55 mins. You cannot even play the game if you don't have an internet connection, it needs it for activation...even said it on the pack.
When it finally gets to run, it opens with a non stop verbose speel about the game, what to do etc etc.
Further, it has no instruction leaflet to tell you what the controls are...I had to google that!!
It defaults to keyboard controls, which in my opinion is stupid, and you have to navigate yourself to a garage before you can get to the option screen to change to joystick.
Did the changes, and connected my joypad, which is one of the usb type ps3 controllers, but for pc....I use this all the time on games.
The joystick would do nothing I wanted...I checked it's configurations, axis controls etc, and all showed as working flawlessly....but not in this game...looks like I'll have to buy a different one...grrrr
Not impressed at all.

First off I commend you for buying the game but just on the set up I downloaded a few weeks ago a cracked version off one of the torrent sites and I was impressed how bloody easy everything was set up.
Even the joystick worked a treat straight from the start.
Until I read your post I was considering buying an original.
Think I might leave it now
In hindsight I should have posted my Facebook status as: "I've blown the head gasket on my 1997 XR3i" rather than "I've just buggered a 14 year old escort".
The police still haven't seen the funny side, my lap top's been confiscated and the wife has gone off to her mum's.

I see why you got it your way....didn't know they paid something like this..
..
That's a little steep - I don't suppose it was through EB Games???
I've taken a few back to them and while they don't give refunds they don't ask questions just give a store credit.
cheers

Don't know where they got it...will ask tomorrow
If they bought it from EA's Origin online store it probably didn't come with an instruction book.
My nephew picked up NFS Shift 2 Unleashed from the Origin store and no instruction pdf.
He contacted customer service and they couldn't help him out as they didn't have one or even know where to get one.
What's the point of selling games with no instructions?
Obviously not everyone's as bright as you sidd230.
There was no instructions in the sleeve of this new one either...sorry, had forgotten about my thread here...probably my disappointment in the game
Some basic instructions for any software, games included, would always be beneficial. Even if all it says is you need to get to a "garage" and upgrade your "doohickey" to get more "whatchamacallits". It, at least, gives you a clue as to what you can do!
I played around again for ages with this game again today, trying to get my wireless joypad working on it. A google search uncovered a number of posts about using an xbox 360 emulator controller, but after about 3 hours I had had enough.
I like driving games, but there seems to be an abject lack of used/cheap driving games on ebay and the like for pc, with many being older games that research tells me that they won't run on Win 7 either.
I thought there'd be heaps about...but that is not the case.
Trust me to be given the one game that joysticks were not enabled as a working controller.....my keyboard driving skills are woeful....I end up all over the track!!
no manual gearbox option though, that is 2 nfs games...
not happy
