Approaching the end of my first full day. It has been sunny with cloudy periods, definately not a clear sky. I have generated about 40kw so far and we are having a late burst of sunshine. Hopefully my meter config doesnt take forever, I know the FIT is shit but at least it would pay for my night use.

It will be interesting to see what I would get with a full day of sunshine over summer (now literally finished). I think 60 kw would be possible.

I think 60 KW might be a little ambitious as that would equate to close to 8 hours at maximum efficiency
Then again, you guys have a bit longer days down at your latitude
I hope for your sake you can achieve that goal
Looks like your system is working pretty efficient already, good stuff

he might during peak summer weirdo , i know some one down that way who has a
a 9.3kw system on 3 separate arrays who was getting average 54 in September last yr.

He has since increased the size but have no idea what he is making now.

array #1 is biased NE at 45 deg,
array #2 dead North 30 deg,
array #3 dead west at 20deg
dont say linux if i wanted it id install it

I cant see why it wouldnt (I am talking about summer and a full day of sunlight, nothing less though). I ended up making 44kw yesterday and it was cloudy.

I have seen people on peaking their systems out on a summers day at for example, 35 kws in a day on a 5kw system so as high as 60 on an 8kw on the right day should be a realistic possibility.

    Hi Admin
I think you need to take a longer view of the amount of energy your system produces ie per year. I have a program logging my power generation and it has been in use for 3 years. From this my system 1 (1.85Kw) generated 2581.5 KWh in 2011, 4667 KWh in 2012 and 3101.75 Kwh in 2013 and my 1.5Kw system (installed later) 2788 KWh in 2013. Over the last 2 months my 1.8Kw system has generated a maximum of 15.5 KWh and a minimum of 3.4 KWh, so individual day readings can be quite misleading.

Its going to vary a lot, as I mentioned I am only talking about peak summer day full sun all day.

As well as my inverter readouts I also have a wireless efergy E2 Classic energy monitor installed in my meter box which is giving readings which are basically the same as my inverters output readings.

Its cloudy as hell today and only 2 forecast days in the next week are mainly sunny.

Lol, I would rather our weather than yours.

I bought a USB to RS232 cable but it hasnt turned up yet. I have a netbook doing nothing that I am going to connect to the inverters RS232 port.

Nah, no need to flash it And definately no plans of rooting it

Samil have PC software that allows you to log directly to a computer from that port.

Generated just under 40kw yesterday which I thought was quite good given it was cloudy most of the day.

Today has been sunnier, 37kw so far and should get another 2 hours of good quality sun and probably light until 7.30.

Just under 50kw generated for the day. It was mostly sunny but there was early cloud, so overall I am pretty impressed.

I dont really get the sun hitting the panels too well being North West until after 9.30 in the morning, but I get every bit of the afternoon sun. As you can see, 12 kw between me posting at 4.21 and now.

I have generated a total of 152 kw's since it was turned on.

    10.00ish Tue
    44.80 Wed
    40.00 ish Thu
    49.50 Frid

The extras would have been from when the installer had it on when testing the system after install.

We are thinking of having a small system installed in WA, this may be slightly OT but wondered if you guys had to pay the retailer for "upgrading the meter firmware" I was told this has to be done and would cost $60 which is added to the electricity bill.
The meter has Westernpower EM1000 written on it, and is brand new as it is on a newly built home. If I press the scroll button all the positive and negative fields are there exactly the same as a friends meter who has panels working. Sensing a rip off I rang Synergy the retailer and was told it still need to be upgraded but they didn't give me what I thought was a reasonable reason why.
I know it is not a huge sum but wonder what others thoughts are?

If they are the same as Victoria, they do need to be programmed for 2 way power, ie power in and power out. I am still waiting for mine to be done, here its under tariff 13 when you scroll through the meter.

Without it being done you will not be credited for power you export to the network.

Some companies come out and do it, some do it remotely, but either way, you need it done.

Last few days have been good admin, did you make good power?
The other thing you will learn over time is the effect temperature has on production.

Yeah, I think just under 50 kw yesterday. Sun from 9am to 8 pm. It currently hits its peak at 3PM.

157 kw total on each inverter now, so total of 314 kw produced since turning on last week.

I have one inverter connected to a Windows Netbook using Samil SolarPower Browser software, just waiting on a second cable for the other one.

I'm getting an east/west system installed in a couple of weeks. 2.5Kw per side. Suntech panels with MPPT micro-inverters on each panel. Individual performance monitoring for each panel. If anyone is interested I'll start a new thread & keep you updated
