Update it off the net, then try again, or if its a PAL version then your fine anyways
Hi all,
I went to play "Fire emblem radiant dawn" ( I just got from a nice gent in disc trader) and it wants to upgrade my wii, I did not allow it (as I am petrified of bricking it). I went to options and did an upgrade to find out I have the latest but the game still wants to update me, is there a way to find out what, any one have any ideas of what I could try etc..
thanks
Matt

Yeah if you know 100% that its a PAL disc then let it do it. I always go by that rule, if I am not 100% sure then I dont run it.
As nsdn said, make sure you have the latest update from Nintendo as well.
Also what chip do you have in your Wii...???
If by chance you have a Wiikey, update it to the latest firmware 1.9s and the run the config disc and disable "updates via DVD" in the menu. Not sure if this option is available on other chips though.

If u have a iso image of the game u could patch it with WiiBrickBlocker & then burn it again. then the game should start without an update.
thanks, I have updated from the net (I have the latest) but the disk still wants to update, I will try wiibrickblocker and see what happens
cheers

Super Smash Bros update was to allow reading of Dual Layer,
Speed Racer wanted to update so i chanced it at that was fine
So far i have been lucky
I have read that once your firmware is past 3.00 then your OK anyway, it seems like every NTSC game you out in wants a update regardless of your firmware revision, even with a disk that was supposedly scrubbed.
I very nervously bit the bullet the other day and updated with a NTSC US version and it was fine. Mine was already at 3.01E...but it did not change the firmware version!! It just seemed like the game wanted to add some stuff to NV memory.
I tell customers not to update with out of region disks as a precaution and because I can't afford to say anything else, but it would seem that what I have read is true at least for the game I updated with.
Sorry can't give a definitive reassurance.
thanks.
I spoke to the gent that I got the game off, he said it is a PAL, he was a wiiKey and has updates turned off, I have a new console so it has the dc-pro chip (or something like that), still a bit nervous as I've only had the console 3 weeks, I think I will brickclock it.
What do people use to create iso's, any freebies that are good, I went to channel BT but could not find anything (my nero want create iso) ?
thanks
Matt
thanks for all the help,
I created an iso then brickblocker on it, brickblocer stated it was Region P (Pal/Europe) so I assume this is safe to le upgrade as it's pal even though it's Europe ?
thanks again
Matt
