Kaspersky, with a genuine key for less than $10 on ebay.
I find it fast and reliable on Vista PC Core2Duo.
Used McAfee for many years as it was not intrusive, seemed to catch most things and was easy to uninstall or update.
Then they stopped making just the AV version - had to get the whole suite of other junque that I neither wanted or needed.
About the same time I found that it also screwed Yahoo Instant Messenger up. For some reason I couldn't see what I was typing, yet I could see what was being sent to me.
At that point I tried Panda, then I went to NOD32 and have been using that since. Granted, it doesn't nab everything but no single AV does.
[I tried installing Kaspersky on a friend's machine recently. It nearly stalled after I rebooted - and then it took me ages to uninstall it. Not sure what the problem was.]
Nod32, only because it uses less system resources than Kasperski
I don't use anything...
I don't get viruses
I don't look at porn sites, I don't download anything except movie files.
A quick spyware scan every now and then, or a visit to trend housecall every 6 months just to make sure things are clean.
Live dangerous!!!
Changed over from avg to kaspersky a couple of weeks ago. PC runs a lot smoother now, just need to iron out a few things still with kaspersky. Wont let me log into hotmail and a few other sites.
Didn't detect the mouse that moved into my PC case last week though.
G'Day,
Seems there are the good and bad.
Last year I was Super Admin/Webmaster on a forum and was hit with a particularly vindicative DDos attack. My PC and server were on the verge of collapse with email error messages(60,000 or more a day). One zombie was noted at over 700 hits in a 60 sec period. ZA Mail Frontier was all that saved me until I found several ways to defeat the attack at the server. Very tempted to seek revenge, but ICCC would not do any thing.
After that I'll swear by ZA for all it's shortcomings. The only thing that may be of interest is a backup defense.
Kindest Regards, " The Druid ".
