Mine got delivered today and seems to be quite a nice phone so far.
My old phone was a Samsung Galaxy S3....quite a reasonable phone in its own right and what I have to compare with. From a speed perspective, it is like getting out of an old crapbox in to a Ferrari.....the Nexus 5 is frighteningly fast. After installing a backup I uninstalled some old apps and its like the Nexus was waiting for me, not the other way round.
Despite some negative reports about the camera, again, the S3 isnt even in the same ball park.
I will post more after some further use but its pretty obvious that this is probably the best bargain phone ever.

Where did you purchase it from?

Wow, I can see what I have been missing on 4G.
There are tourists absolutely everywhere down here at the moment and 3G is struggling but I still pulled 35.33 down and 6.79 up on 4G.

Thanks for the initial review admin.
There is nothing like someone owning and using a product. Beats any online, Free test handset, rebate cheque review.
On the 3G/4G speeds, i have found this year, over previous years, the speed has been really good (it was written up in the papers that holiday destinations were having work done to handle the heavy loads this Holiday season) I have not suffered like i used to.
Even when 16,000 came into town on New Years Day, the Voice worked perfect, the 3G internet did pretty much die, but came good later that day when a lot of them left.
The GF's Samsung 4G is getting 20Mb down / 10Mb up at 2pm
My Samsung 3G (Optus) is 5mb down / 1.5mb up at 2pm
Look forward to hearing more about your Google Nexus.... fantastic price!
Is there in option for an SD card with your new phone admin? Slim port?
How do you rate the screen image, compared to the S3?
And the Home Buttons on the screen itself?
For those wondering, i just went through with the purchase process, no issues at all, phone in stock.
$399 AU delivered.

Yeah, i was paying attention, just hoping
No, they dont have a memory card slot as Leroy hinted . With the popularity of cloud storage, I use bugger all in the way of storage these days.
OB, pretty much nothing on the S3 is even close in comparison. Google Now is a major surprise to me......I did think talking to a phone, such as with Siri on iphone was a bit of a wank but Google Now is really fast. You dont have to press a button or do anything....just pick the phone up and say " Ok Google " and ask it a question. It will either respond by voice or pull up Google results. It is wayyyyyy faster than typing a query, quite impressive.
One annoyance (to me anyway) is that the default messaging system is Google Hangouts. It is easily replaced though with the standard app via the play store. Google are really trying to push Google Plus down your throat these days.

Damn american accents....Google Now thinks Austech is Autistic....there may be something in that
Well, for $399, sounds like if you had S3 or similar that may have a crack in the screen, why would you even bother fixing it.
Just buy a new phone.
Yes, the "Google World" scares me.... i was thinking this morning if i could ditch all Google products.
Seems hard, as so much of our day to day is somehow connected to them.
I'll address a few of the criticisms in online reviews.....I agree totally with Oceanboy's earlier comments that the best reviews are from people that actually own an item. Its hard to know if some sites are pushing a product or deliberately bagging it.
Camera - I can only compare to the S3 and this craps all over it. Reviews suggest using HDR+ mode, it all looks good to me.
Battery Life - Seems about on par with the S3, I always use a battery saving app and am not a heavy phone user.
Android 4.4 - People must remember this is a spanking new system and will have the odd bug. The Nexus 5 is basically labelled as a developers phone so if you are not fond of having a "play" with stuff you are probably better off just buying an S4 or similar. The great thing of course is any updates and bug fixes go straight to you from Google, no waiting

Please give us a follow up review, my iphone is boring me.
Here are a couple of pics with the camera showing a few different colors
Great timing Andrew, was just looking at replacing my S1 and was considering the Nexus.
Pretty good pics for a phone. I have an iphone4 often find when I send pics to people with android phones they can't open the pics. Is this still an issue?
