Default How to play flv. files on the computer?

I have recently downloaded a flv. file in which I can play it on my smartphone but not on my computer. Is there any way to play the flv. file on the computer? Do I need a special coding and what kind of software do I need to download to play that particular file? I can't seem to figure anything out to play that kind of file.

I assume you already have flash installed, if not, install it.

    Then Google 'K-Lite Codec Pack'
Install codecs and enjoy your video.

VLC media player will do it, has it's own codecs integrated. It's free.

    Cheers, Tiny

You can also use it to convert the .flv files to other file types.

K-Lite codec pack IS the way to go! K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 10.4.0

The K-Lite Codec Pack allows you to play almost every movie file that you can find on the Internet

    From Codec Guide:
K-Lite Codec Pack Full is a collection of VFW or ACM codecs, DirectShow filters and tools. Codecs and DirectShow filters are needed for encoding and decoding (playing) audio and video formats. The K-Lite Codec Pack is designed as a user-friendly solution for playing all your movie files. With the K-Lite Codec Pack you should be able to play all the popular audio and video formats and even several less common formats. (flac, ogg, quicktime, mkv,)

I think OP got it already. 2 months ago.

Nope there, tiny! I didn't read above ANYWHERE where pandandesign said he had installed K-Lite codec pack!

I saw where it was recommended by WhiteOx, but not where panadndesign has chosen it and installed it.

Just trying to re-inforce the recommendation that K-Lite was the way to go!

I personally do not care for VLC player, why have two or three different media players when one (WMP w/K-Lite) can handle all!

If you can download VLC then your problems will be over.
You can also try and use GOM player and see how it works out for you. It can play several formats also.
