Thumbs up Windows Live Messenger still working?!?!

I found an old ASUS eee PC recovery disk laying around and installed in in Virtualbox.
Windows Live Messenger was pre-installed on the image and so I attempted to login... Which was successful:

I thought messenger was supposed shut down sometime March last year... But it hasn't!

I believe that WLM probably keeps their servers up and running to some extent for the purposes of funneling any users back from 'hiatus' to Skype. Wouldn't you be frustrated if you've been in the hospital for the past 2 years and when you got back, WLM had shut down and you had lost all your contacts :P?

Have fun with your Offline contacts!

From what I've read, the servers will be turned off around March 2014.
I've been using Messenger Reviver on my Windows 7 PC, works fine.

Sounds probable. I haven't actually used MSN or messenger since 2009, so I am one of those Offline Contacts :P

Yes, haven't used it in ages. So long in fact that my sign in email for it (primusonline) was my dial-up provider email from years ago :P!

I used to use Windows Live Messenger when I was younger. It was one of the most popular instant messenger I have ever used. I can't remember the last time I used Windows Live Messenger because I could use an instant messenger app on my smartphone. I thought Microsoft no longer supports Windows Live Messenger or something. I still like it for how easy it is.
