    Default Solar installation

    Hi

I have solar on my roof, it is a 6 panel 1.6kw system,

I am looking at putting some more panels on the roof, I have heard that some of these inverters that you can get online can be plugged directly into a power point and feed the power in through the power circuit.

origin has told me I have a "smart" meter, this is something that energex has flat denied before but anyway, if I do this will it count the power going back onto the grid and put it in as a credit or will it just ignore the power completely?

I eventually want to start migrating stuff off the grid, so I am looking at some how setting up a charging system, perhaps get some car batteries or something and charge them up through the day and run inverters off them at night to power things like fridges, washing machines and the hot water system.

The air conditioners use the power so I can limit there usage.

    Regards

    Barry

    Do you have solar?
A grid connect inverter REQUIRES the presence of the grid so it can synchronise the sign wave with the grid before producing power, so the plug is dead until connected to the grid.
I know they exist as my friend has one, but does not have a smart meter.
