Unlock passworded tablet

My daughter has locked her tablet but has been sitting a few weeks while we got a new charger under warranty, so now she has forgotten the password.
It there a way to unlock ?

Its just a cheap thompson android, i thought about the hard rest. I'll have to see if i have the manual at home something, bloody kid constantly changes passwords .

Hard reset is a good object lesson for her. So she loses her collection of girlie tweets, she may be a little more careful in future.

If she has her Google account backup turned on, a hard reset isnt that bad. As soon as you go through setup and re add your Google account, literally everything comes back after sync. Thats also based on using Dropbox or Google Photos to back up your photos.

Google Photos (same as dropbox) is free as long as you sign up for a Google Plus account.

I thought about that but she will lose her pics which she wont like, when she comes back from camp tomorrow i'll see if she can remember her password otherwise its a hard reset.

what tablet model number and android version most version you can bypass pattern lock and code lock no need to loose info

whats sort of passwords are they?
like a user account? or it locks the tablet?
i wonder if theres a password retriever program like you can for windows
