Smart TVs and Banner Ads

I was just looking at getting a new TV for my bedroom, was thinking a Samsung Smart TV, when i come across all this talk about "Banner Ads" that can not be switched and come across the TV whether you are watching FTA, DVD or whatever.





First i had heard of this, my old Smart TV (Samsung 3 years old) does not do this.

Anyone else suffer ads or alike on their Smart TVs, or is this issue mainly isolated to Samsung products?
