    Default tp-link tdw8960n no internet

    Hi there all,

I have a friend that has issues with his wireless tp-link tdw8960n v4. He can't get the internet to work. On the modem the led for the internet is not on. So I try to go into 192.168.1.1 but it doesn't come up at all. I did a reset still no go. Also the wireless light is on but ofcourse with no internet you can't get on.

Any ideas what to check out??

    Regards,

    aarty.

Have you set your computer LAN port to DHCP and see what IP range the modem is using

As you are right the default IP should be 192.168.1.1 but the IP might be something different even after you done a Reset on it

I am sure you have the user manual , but just in case

When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all

    Hi best4less,

Yes I have downloaded the manual.
I will check what you have written and hope it works there after.

    Hi there,

Well I went over with my modem (same model) and had the same problem. So rang dodo tech support. They told me to check this and that. Still didn't work. Then told me to reset modem. Which I did. Then internet light went on, said to dodo that all ok and thats. All happy. After 20 mins that night internet light off again.... back to ringing them tonight....

If you have some spare filters swap them around the faulty house

I have had a few filters stuff up in the day and where customers add a new phone answering machine to the house without a filter

    good luck

Is the computer talking to the modem/router?

Have you tried pinging the modem/router from the computer? If you have and there is no reply, communication between the two units (computer and modem) is not taking place. This could be due to a number of reasons.

If you are not familiar with a ping command, it takes place from the command prompt (Dos prompt) and takes the form, ping (space) i.p. address). I notice that the default i.p. address for the unit in question is 192.168.1.1, so the command will be ping 192.168.1.1 <ENTER>

This is an example of what you should see.
